Below are my favorite Physical Fitness books designed for those trying to pass their AF PT test, Trying to max out their AF PT test, or for those reaching even higher and trying to get selected into the Special Operations community. Pass Your PT Test: An Unconventional Guide to Passing the Air Force Physical Fitness Assessment – Written by David Soto

David Soto is a former Air Force Master Sargent who went from failing the Air Force PT test to getting a 97.5 by the end of his career. With dedication and hard work he believes you can achieve similar results.  This book currently sells on Amazon for 9.99 for a hard back, and 4.99 for kindle.

 

The Official Air Force Instruction (AFI 362905) Fitness Program which includes the 3 Jan 2013 changes – Written by the USAF

This is the official fitness instruction for taking the Air Force PT test.   While not a training manual, it is best for those already in the Air Force who would like to fully understand how the AF fitness test is structured and operates. This instruction currently sells for 14.99 hard back or 3.99 kindle. It is also available for download on my reference page.

 

Max out the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Physical Fitness and Combat Fitness Test – Written by Lee Kind

Lee Kind is an Army Officer and author of a series of physical fitness and professional development books. This book is a follow up to his best-selling MAX Out Vol I, MAX Out II edition 2 is for all Air Men who want to set and exceed the physical fitness standard. Instructs how to properly perform push-ups, sit-ups (curl-ups), and the 1.5 mile run. The book includes 40 pages of additional exercises and tips that will enable, not just the military, but anyone to improve one’s overall physical fitness and max their fitness tests

 

Army Pushups – The complete guide to maxing out the Arm Physical Fitness Pushup test.   – Written by the team at Adjust Fire.

As the title suggests this is all about pushups. However, the training plans are just as applicable for Marines, Sailors and Armen. The book can be purchased at amazon for 3.99 on Kindle

 

Tactical Fitness (40+) Foundation Rebuilding: For beginners or recovering from injury — written by Stew Smith

Stew Smith is a friend, mentor, and a company officer while I was at the Academy. He has published a number of fitness books for those working to either get in shape, maintain their fitness or prepare for selection into SOF units such as Rangers, SEALS and Air Force Para-rescue.
